OK, this ones really funny. This NewsMax article says that Iran gave the US permission to make unmanned overflights in an effort to avoid an armed conflict. Ha, that’s rich. Iran has been claiming publicly that they will bury every US service man or woman involved in any attack, that it would be the worst mistake the US could ever make stopping short only of declaring that there would be the mother of all battles (probably Saddam has a trademark on that).

Why would they permit unmanned overflights? Because they had no capability to stop them. Given that they couldn’t shoot the drones down they figured they’d get some publicity mileage out of their weakness. Looking for a peaceful solution? Not on your life, at least not one that means the mullahs are out of power or without nuclear arms.
